The fire sprinkler installation process
Our commercial fire sprinkler systems are all supplied, designed and installed to comply with BS 9251.
Once the design process has been completed, the first fix stage is undertaken at a similar time to when the electricians and plumbers are on site.
Most commercial fire sprinkler systems will consist of CPVC pipework, which is professionally and securely joined together with solvent weld cement and fittings.
The pipework is installed in the ceiling void, which should be a minimum of 150mm and is fixed with approved hangers.
Additional bracing will be installed close to the sprinkler heads to avoid any movement in the event of an activation.
The sprinkler heads are left with protective covers attached and the flooring and ceilings can then be closed up. The commercial sprinkler system will either be operated by a pump and storage tank or by a mains fed water supply; this connection will be undertaken at commissioning and completion stage.
Also at commissioning stage, the sprinkler heads are fitted with unobtrusive white cover plates which finish flush with the ceiling and similar in diameter to down lights, different colours are available to fit in with the appearance of your room.
